Police nab 24 suspects for drug abuse, social vices in Kano

The Kano  State Police Command, in a statement on Friday, said the nabbed were conducted in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at advancing community-based policing and enhancing 24/7 visibility patrols.

It further stated that these apprehensions were carried out by its personnel as a component of the Command’s initiatives to curtail criminal activities, with a particular focus on combating drug abuse and other societal problems across Kano State.

The Kano Police disclosed that the 24 individuals were apprehended by the command’s officers during various clearance operations conducted between October 26, 2023, and November 2, 2023.

“During this period, a total of twenty-four (24) suspects were arrested for offenses such as drug dealing and other social vices, with the recovery of a quantity of illicit drugs and stolen properties,” it stated.

According to the statement, the individuals involved in drug trafficking will be transferred to the Kano Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for subsequent legal proceedings.

Additionally, the Kano State Police Command revealed that the rest of the suspects will face legal prosecution following the conclusion of their investigation.
