Police nab eight-man kidnap gang in Kaduna

The Police Command in Kaduna State has nabbed individuals suspected of engaging in kidnappings and armed robbery across different areas of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, Mansir Hassan, reported that security operatives arrested the suspects at their hideout in Nuba farm.

In a statement released on Thursday, he disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were involved in the kidnapping of Kawu Yakassai, the organizing secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna, in Soba Local Government Area on August 25th, as well as another victim, Adamu Muazu, more recently.

The suspects, according to the police spokesperson, are Bello Suleiman, Ismail Abubakar, Usman Suleiman, Umar Suleiman, and Isah Lawal, all hailing from Farin Kasa village in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Additionally, Abubakar Bello, Ibrahim Mu’azu, and Umar Suleiman were also identified among the apprehended individuals.

Hassan further revealed that the head of the kidnapping syndicate, known as Hanazuwa, is currently evading authorities and is under pursuit by security agencies. The detained suspects will face legal proceedings once the investigation is concluded.

In the meantime, the State Commissioner of Police, Musa Garba, has praised the operatives for apprehending the kidnapping suspects and urged them to exercise heightened vigilance during the upcoming yuletide season.

The commissioner advised the public to remain vigilant about their security, cautioning that criminal elements are actively seeking opportunities to exploit the festive season.
