Police nab fake army captain for armed robbery, recover car
Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 39-year-old ‘Army Captain’, Andy Teddy Edwards, for armed robbery. The fake soldier allegedly posed as a modelling agent, invited ladies for auditioning and then robbed them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint.
Spokesperson for the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, yesterday, said Edwards was arrested following an investigation launched after one of his victims reported the robbery of her Lexus marked: RX330 SUV.
He said further investigation led to the recovery of one Ford Edge Sports Utility Van (SUV) with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, one Point of Sale (POS) machine, six SIM cards, two pairs of military camouflage and one number plate, AFL 469 GD, in the suspect’s house.
Hundeyin said the suspect would be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation and urged the owner of the Ford SUV to come forward to claim same.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, also assured Lagosians of unwavering commitment of the Command towards stamping out crime and criminality in the state.
