Officers of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 53-year-old man, Kareem Fatia, for allegedly producing firearms in the Ile-Oluji area of the state.

On 15 October 2025, detectives from the Yaba Divisional Headquarters in Ondo City, acting on credible intelligence, raided the Eyingun-Owode community and apprehended the suspect.

In a statement issued in Akure, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Olusola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest. He explained that a detailed search of the area led to the discovery of three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, and one unfinished gun barrel hidden in a bush behind the suspect’s home.

Ayanlade said Fatia confessed to being involved in the illegal fabrication and sale of firearms during police interrogation. Two other suspects were also taken into custody in connection with the crime.

He added that the police are investigating possible links between the suspect and violent activities within the state, as well as identifying individuals or groups who may have obtained weapons from him.

The police spokesperson further stated that preliminary investigations have been completed, and the main suspect, along with the recovered exhibits, will be handed over to the Command’s Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
