The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor in connection with the death of his elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, aged 45.

The arrest was carried out by operatives from the Abagana Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with state vigilante personnel.

Kosisochukwu, 37, is a native of Adegbe Village, Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, revealing that the suspect confessed to engaging his brother in a fight following a heated argument over the use of foodstuffs in their home.

“Kosisochukwu was said to have used a stick to pierce the deceased chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“This incident is quite disturbing and highlights the importance of addressing domestic violence and conflicts amongst family members.  It also underscores the need to manage conflicts and emotions healthily and constructively to avoid irreparable consequences,” the statement said.

It added that the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka and shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation.
