Police nab six suspected cultists in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has conducted a successful raid on a criminal hideout in the Afaha Offiong community, located in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, it was revealed that the operation followed directives from the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara. The raid was prompted by intelligence reports indicating illegal activities within the community.

The swift response led to the arrest of six male suspects believed to be involved in cultism and drug dealing. The suspects were identified as Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Micheal, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.

During the operation, officers recovered two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, along with suspected cocaine and other cocktail concoctions. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend remaining members of the syndicate.

Commissioner Ayilara reassured residents of Akwa Ibom that the police are fully committed to eradicating criminal activities in the state. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station, stressing that timely information is crucial to maintaining safety and security.
