Police nab suspected foreign sponsors of protest with Russian flag

The Nigerian Police have announced the arrest of foreign nationals suspected of sponsoring protests involving the display of the Russian flag in various parts of the country.

Police Commissioner Salman Garba disclosed this after a security meeting with Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf on Tuesday.

Garba stated that the police and other security agencies will take firm action against anyone attempting to compromise the state’s security.

He also announced a further relaxation of the curfew, now set from 6 am to 6 pm.

The nationwide #Endbadgovernance protests against hardship and hunger took a new turn on Monday, with protesters in some northern states waving the Russian flag and chanting “Tinubu must go.”

The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with human rights activists such as Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Mustapha describing the act as a treasonable offense.
