Police nab two for ‘stealing 25 phones’ in Borno

The Borno Police Command has announced the arrest of two individuals accused of stealing 25 mobile phones along Damboa Road in Maiduguri.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, revealed that the suspects were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation.

According to Daso, officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) intercepted the suspects on Tuesday while they were traveling in a tricycle. Upon inspection, a collection of stolen mobile phones was discovered.

The suspects reportedly admitted to snatching phones from victims in communities across Borno and Adamawa.

“The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Abubako and Ibrahim Mohammed, were intercepted by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Dec. 10 while riding a tricycle,” NAN quoted Daso as saying.

“Some of the communities are Mubi, Tashan Alade, Miringa, Kwaya Kusar, and Biu Local Government Area of the state.

“The police have initiated efforts to return the recovered devices to their rightful owner.

“Also, the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

Yusufu Lawal, the Borno Police Commissioner, reiterated the command’s dedication to ensuring public safety throughout the festive season.
