The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two individuals linked to kidnapping activities.
In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, disclosed the development, attributing the successful operation to the proactive strategies implemented by Commissioner of Police Betty Isokpan in tackling crime across the state.
CSP Yamu assured residents of enhanced security while expressing gratitude for their cooperation with law enforcement. He also urged the public to continue providing useful information to aid police efforts.
The statement read “On 05/02/2025 at about 0945hrs, upon receipt of credible information that suspected kidnappers were sighted somewhere at Ugonoba village in Uhunmwode LGA.
“The DPO Okuaihe leading the Operatives of Operation Rescue stormed the location. These suspected kidnappers took flight upon sighting the Police, they were chased, and the duo of Kamsiru Abubakar 20yrs and Akhor Daraman 28yrs were arrested.”
During preliminary investigation, and as the news of the arrest circulated in the town, some individuals who were victims identified the suspects to be part of the gang that kidnapped them last year.
“The investigation has been expanded to arresting other members of the kidnap syndicate,” the statement added.
