The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate operations, recovering three locally made firearms and live ammunition.
Police Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo said in a statement on Wednesday that operatives from the Kaduna-Vom and Nassarawa Gwong Divisions made the arrests as part of intensified crime-fighting efforts across the state.
On August 4, 2025, a Kaduna-Vom Division patrol team intercepted 24-year-old Mark Ibrahim Dalyop of Sabon Layi Kuru during a stop-and-search operation. He was allegedly found with two locally made rifles while riding a motorcycle from Vom to Kuru.
In another incident on 11 August 2025, Nassarawa Gwong Division operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 26-year-old Moses Aliyu of Fwave Chiki Rayfield, Jos. He was allegedly found in an uncompleted building at Kwanga with a locally fabricated revolver pistol and a .9mm live round.
Both suspects are under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will face charges once inquiries are complete.
Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina reaffirmed the Command’s determination to eliminate criminal activity in the state, warning offenders to desist or leave. He stressed that the police would continue to act within the law to ensure justice.
