The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 21 suspected cultists, including two military personnel, during a midnight raid at a hotel in Osiele, within the Odeda Police Division of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that the raid, conducted on Friday, followed actionable intelligence regarding a gathering of suspected cultists in the area.

A combined team comprising officers from the Odeda and Aregbe Divisions, the Anti-Cultism Unit, and the SWAT unit, led by Superintendent of Police Adejoh Israel, executed the operation. The suspects are believed to be members of the Aiye confraternity.

During the raid, law enforcement recovered items such as a cut-to-size locally made firearm, a branded axe, and several blue berets, all commonly associated with cult activities.

“The suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Anti-Cultism Unit at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation,” Odutola stated.

She called on the public to continue sharing credible information to support the police in their operations, assuring residents of intensified efforts to maintain safety and security across the state.
