The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers found with two locally made guns and a stolen motorcycle in Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area.

Confirming the arrest to journalists on Sunday in Bauchi, the command’s spokesman, Mr. Ahmad Wakil, said the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday following a distress call from a resident of the Gandum Wambai area in Azare.

“The caller reported that armed individuals had invaded his business premises, GKY Food and Oil Mills, and fled with a motorcycle after threatening the occupants with firearms,” Wakil stated.

He explained that police operatives from the Azare Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with local vigilantes, immediately launched a pursuit that led to the arrest of the suspects at Lafiya village along the Lafiya–Gwasame road.

“Items recovered from them include two locally made guns and the stolen Bajaj motorcycle,” he added.

Wakil noted that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers and vigilante members for their swift and coordinated response.

“He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining proactive measures against crime and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the State,” Wakil said.

He further disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects are connected to a broader criminal network.

Wakil urged residents to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to help the police maintain peace and security across the state.
