Police authorities in Ogun State have arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly involved in numerous kidnappings and killings in Ijebu Igbo and its surrounding areas in Ijebu North Local Government Area. Five other members of the gang remain at large.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, this seven-member kidnap gang was responsible for the abduction and subsequent killing of a 71-year-old father of five and a 37-year-old man. The victims were buried in shallow graves at two different locations.

Leading officers and health officials to the sites where the victims were buried, the Commissioner of Police assured residents that the remaining gang members would soon be brought to justice.

“These two suspects have confirmed being the culprits while their other partners are presently on the run. They are here to lead us to the shallow grave where the kidnapped victims were buried,” the CP said.

“We think it is better to follow that sequence, let us confirm that it is actually a shallow grave where the victims were buried.

“This is a seven-man gang. The important thing is that they have admitted to the commission of the offence and their cohorts are on the run.”

The CP vowed that the Ogun State Police Command is making frantic efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

He also reiterated to the residents of Ogun the police commitment to securing their lives and properties, warning criminals to steer clear of the state.
