A young mom who first claimed her 10-month-old child was missing has been arrested and paraded for allegedly drowning the youngster in a river.
Since the accused father had denied paternity, the suspect, who admitted to the crime, stated that she killed her child out of fear of social rejection.
The defendant and another person who reportedly enticed an 8-year-old youngster to see a native doctor were paraded at the State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba. Parts of the child’s body were allegedly utilised in rituals after he was killed.
These arrests form part of the Delta State Police Command’s end-of-year scorecard, presented by the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, since he assumed office nearly a year ago.
The suspects were arrested by the police for various crimes, including murder, cultism, armed robbery, and kidnapping, in collaboration with other security agencies.

In another case, a young man named Destiny Lawrence is accused of luring an 8-year-old child to a local native doctor for a fee of N30,000. The native doctor allegedly used the child for ritualistic purposes.
The Delta State Police Command also released a detailed report of key accomplishments and progress since Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda took office. He attributed these successes to strong backing from the state government and effective cooperation with other security agencies.
Vowing to maintain an unwavering stance in the fight against crime, the Delta State Police Commissioner reminded the public that the ban on tinted vehicles and the use of fireworks remains in effect, particularly during the festive season. He emphasized that this measure is intended to prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of the holiday period.
