An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shafiu Bawah, has tragically died by suicide in Niger State.
The incident, confirmed by the Niger State Police Command in a statement on Sunday, occurred on February 8, 2025, at the 61 Police Mobile Force (PMF) base in Kontagora.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, Bawah reportedly ended his life by hanging.

However, the motive behind the act remains unknown.
The officer’s body was removed from the scene and subsequently handed over to his family for burial.
Meanwhile, the Command has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
