The police authorities are set to deploy drones for surveillance during the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 16 November 2024.
On Friday, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Tunji Disu, who leads the Nigerian Police Force monitoring team, prepared a drone deployment unit to oversee the election process.
Security agencies have expressed their readiness to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a smooth conduct of the off-cycle election.
A total of 43,157 security personnel have been deployed for the exercise, with approximately 34,657 of them from the police force assigned to polling units, ward and local government collation centres, and other strategic locations.
It is anticipated that four police officers will be stationed at each polling unit.
