The Rivers State Police Command has elevated 119 officers to various ranks in recognition of their service.
During the promotion ceremony held in Port Harcourt on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the officers for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing that their commitment to the Force over the years had earned them the advancement.
According to him, the newly promoted officers were found worthy of elevation by the Police authorities, stressing that the promotion is a call for them to do more in protecting the image of the Police, as the “reward of hard work is more work.”
“As you are been promoted now you know, there are a lot of responsibilities now and you have to work more than ever before. There are a lot of things that we have to do. You have to uphold the name of the Force. You have to be more serious. You have to carry the image of the Police and let your shoulders be high,” the CP said.
Adepoju cautioned the newly promoted officers against negligence, corruption, and violations of human rights, stressing that the Command would take decisive action against anyone found guilty.
He encouraged the officers to strengthen their engagement with the public and fully embrace community policing, regardless of their postings. The Commissioner also acknowledged the efforts of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission in rebranding the Force for more effective service delivery.
Among those promoted were 40 Superintendents of Police (SP) elevated to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP), 21 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) promoted to Superintendents of Police (SP), and 58 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) elevated to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP).
