The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially received Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, the fugitive accused of abducting and killing Lasisi Funmilayo, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and her daughter Sewa in Ogun and Osun states.

According to reports, the Ghanaian police apprehended the 36-year-old suspect on Sunday after he escaped Nigeria in an attempt to avoid arrest.

George Ohene-Boadi, commander of the Eastern South regional police command in Ghana, said the arrest followed the circulation of a video alleging that the suspect was responsible for the abduction and murder of the FRSC officer and her daughter.

On Monday, Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the NPF, announced in a press statement that Fajemirokun had been transferred to Nigerian authorities.

Hundeyin stated that the suspect was handed over in Accra through a coordinated operation involving INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja. He added that the Ghana Police Service, acting on reliable intelligence about Fajemirokun’s whereabouts, arrested him and immediately alerted the NPF, prompting Interpol NCB Abuja to travel to Accra to complete the handover.

He also noted that Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police (IGP), extended condolences to the victims’ family and assured Nigerians that the investigation would be comprehensive. The IGP confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is finalized and commended the Ghanaian authorities for their support and professionalism.
