Police renew dedication to ensuring security throughout Ramadan

With the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to ensuring sufficient security for everyone across the nation.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement in Abuja on Monday, said Egbetokun gave reassurance while extending greetings to all Muslims at the start of Ramadan.

“The Force extends the warmest greetings from the Nigeria Police Force to all Muslim Ummah across the country on the Ramadan season, a time of reflection, spiritual growth, and communal solidarity which holds great significance for millions of Muslim faithful around the world.

“During this holy period, the Nigeria Police reaffirm its commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all citizens. The Police, as an institution, recognises the importance of respecting religious practices and cultural traditions and the need to promote the principles of tolerance, understanding, and unity within our diverse society,” the statement read.

The IGP encouraged all members of the Muslim Ummah to embrace the values of compassion, generosity, and forgiveness synonymous with Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of unity, mutual support, fostering harmony, and strengthening bonds of friendship and cooperation during the holy month and beyond.

Furthermore, the Inspector-General of Police urged the public to adopt the community policing concept and called on Nigerians to actively support the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and order throughout Ramadan.

Additionally, he encouraged all members of the Muslim Ummah to appreciate the blessings of Ramadan and endeavor to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
