Police rescue 18 stranded corps members from notorious kidnap spot

The General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, popularly known as Omobabaolowo Woli ni Ilasamaja, has praised the Ogun State Police Command for rescuing 18 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were stranded at night after their vehicle broke down in a notorious crime-prone area of the state.

In a letter of appreciation addressed to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, Akinsola said the incident occurred on June 30 when the corps members became stranded after their vehicle developed a mechanical fault in an area known for kidnapping and other criminal activities.

According to him, the corps members contacted the police for assistance after finding themselves in a vulnerable situation.

He commended the police for responding promptly, stating that officers quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, safely evacuated all 18 corps members to Ijebu Ode, and provided temporary accommodation in a hotel.

Akinsola described the officers’ actions as professional, courageous, and life-saving, noting that their swift intervention prevented what could have become a national tragedy.

He said the rescue demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, adding that the corps members and their families remain grateful for the intervention.

He also praised the Divisional Police Officer and the patrol team involved in the operation, saying their decisive response had strengthened public confidence in the police.

Akinsola concluded by praying for the continued safety and strength of police personnel as they carry out their duties across Ogun State.
