The Katsina State Police Command announced on Friday that it had foiled several bandit attacks, rescuing more than 50 kidnapped victims across the state.

This formed part of the Command’s achievements in July 2025, reflecting its ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property through a range of strategic operations.

During the month, officers arrested 302 suspects for various offences, including 14 for armed robbery, 22 for murder or culpable homicide, 25 for rape, 20 for vandalism, and eight for fraud.

They also apprehended 26 suspected illicit drug peddlers and 194 others in connection with other offences.

Recovered exhibits included 199 rustled animals—161 cows and 68 sheep—three suspected stolen motor vehicles, and two suspected stolen motorcycles. Officers also seized quantities of illicit drugs, dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, and a large cache of vandalised armoured cable.

Command spokesman Abubakar Sadiq, speaking at a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, credited these successes to the backing of the Katsina State Government and the cooperation of residents.

“We sincerely express our deepest appreciation for their support, collaboration, and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order,” he said.

He urged the public to continue supporting the police to help build on these achievements.
