Biodun Omoleye, the lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress primary election held for the constituency, alleging “widespread irregularities, voter suppression, and intimidation during the exercise.”

Omoleye claimed the alleged misconduct undermined the wishes of constituents and vowed to challenge the outcome through constitutional means to reclaim what he described as his mandate.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday by his Media Director, Gloria Femi-Ige, the lawmaker urged party leaders at all levels “to urgently intervene and probe the alleged irregularities surrounding the conduct of the primary election.”

He warned that allowing the outcome to stand without investigation could damage “The credibility of the party’s internal democratic process.”

Describing the exercise as “deeply flawed and compromised,” Omoleye said the process failed to meet democratic standards expected within the party.

“Several wards witnessed harassment and intimidation of my supporters. Genuine party members were denied the opportunity to vote while electoral materials and figures were manipulated in favour of a predetermined outcome,” he alleged.

The lawmaker further claimed that many of his supporters who came out to vote were threatened or chased away from polling centres.

“This is not the democracy we advocate for. The will of the people was clearly subverted, and what we witnessed on Saturday was a coordinated effort to silence the voice of genuine party faithful,” he stated.

While calling on his supporters across Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II to remain peaceful and law-abiding, Omoleye insisted he would pursue legal and constitutional avenues to contest what he termed a “stolen mandate.”

“Our struggle is not just about an election; it is about protecting democracy, ensuring fairness and upholding the voice of the people. We will not relent until justice is served,” he added.

The Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee in Ekiti State, Banjo Adedoyin, had earlier announced the results in Ado Ekiti, revealing that Oladapo Karounwi secured 6,573 votes, while Omoleye polled 1,412 votes. Other contestants included Victor Kolade with 2,096 votes, Samuel Olusola with 705 votes, and Olatunde Oyetola with 1,202 votes.
