Police in Ondo State said the victims of Friday’s abduction in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area, have been located and rescued.

The victims were driving from the South-East at around 11 p.m. when they were ambushed by gunmen, who killed one commuter and the driver. They kidnapped five others, two of whom managed to flee with injuries.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omilana, spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, said in a statement on Monday that the assailants abandoned the victims in the forest.

She stated that officers from the tactical team led by the Area Commander of Owo, Olufemi Awoyele, had been combing the woodland, causing the abductors to run, leaving the victims at the Oyinbo/Sanusi camp nearby.

Omisanya noted that the victims are being treated at the police medical facility in Owo and will be returned to their families after being debriefed.
