Police operatives in Nasarawa State have successfully rescued Emmanuel Omanji, the traditional ruler of the Dari community in Kokona Local Government Area, who was abducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Lafia by the spokesperson of the state police command, Ramhan Nansel.

According to Nansel, the monarch was found unharmed and rescued around 9 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025.

The traditional ruler was said to have been whisked away on Wednesday night from his residence by gunmen who shot sporadically in the community.

The police, however, stated that he was rescued in the Panwasa Mountains, near Mada Station, following sustained pressure from the Command’s Search and Rescue Team.

“Immediately after the rescue, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and has since been reunited with his family. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the abduction.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, extends his heartfelt appreciation to members of the public for their invaluable support and timely information, which greatly assisted in the rescue operation.

“He also commends the efforts and collaboration of other security agencies and local vigilante groups whose support was instrumental to the success of this mission,” the spokesman said.
