Police rescue kidnap victim, recover car in Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered his stolen vehicle in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued in Uyo on Saturday.

She revealed that the victim was abducted along Okop Eto Road and taken to an unknown location. Acting on intelligence, police operatives tracked down the kidnappers and engaged them in a gun duel, forcing them to flee with severe gunshot wounds.

“The victim was rescued unhurt, his Lexus RX 350 SUV recovered, and he has since been reunited with his family,” the statement read.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover their weapons.

State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the officers for their bravery and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling crime. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
