Police rescue three abducted victims in Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command has announced the rescue of three kidnap victims from Dutse Mubayu in the Kona Mountains near Jalingo, the state capital.

The victims were reportedly abducted on December 6, 2024, at Sibre village in Ardo Kola Local Government Area.

”On 6/12/24 at about 14:30 hrs. Responding to a distress call, that three persons were kidnapped at Sibre village Ardo Kola LGA,” the spokesman of the Taraba Police Command Abdullahu Usman said in a statement.

”A team of operatives from Area Command Jalingo in collaboration with the vigilante swung into action and put up a hot chase on the kidnappers.

”The hoodlums engaged the team of police and vigilantes in a gun duel at Dutse Mubayu around Kona Mountains. Due to the firing power of the police, the kidnappers were subdued, and took to their heels, abandoning the victims.

”The victims were rescued unhurt and reunited with their family.”

The rescued individuals have been identified as Idris Adamu, Umar Usman, and Ibrahim Usman.

During the operation, the team also recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 35 rounds of live ammunition.

Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Opara, commended the officers and vigilante group for their collaborative efforts in securing the victims’ release.

He directed the team to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers and reassured residents that the command was fully in control of the situation.
