Police rescue two kidnapped victims, arrest five suspects in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command, collaborating with local hunters from Alo village in Ifelodun local government area, successfully rescued two kidnapped individuals, neutralized one of the suspects, and apprehended five others involved in a recent kidnapping incident targeting the village.

The individuals currently in police custody are Ibrahim Muazu (30), Asimu Salisu (25), Aminu Alaka (25), Aminu Temino (20), and Zakariyau Suleiman (20).

According to information gathered by a Vanguard Correspondent, the kidnappers launched a bold attack on the residence of Alhaji Taofio Fulani in Alo Village, Ifelodun LGA, on Saturday evening. Initially, three individuals were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location. However, one of the victims managed to escape. Thanks to the swift response of the police and assistance from local hunters, the remaining two victims were rescued, and the suspects were apprehended. During the operation, one suspect was fatally wounded.

The recovered ammunition from the suspects includes two handmade firearms, twelve 7.62mm AK47 live rounds, eight spent 7.62mm AK47 rounds, one empty magazine, one machete, and various plugs.

The Command’s spokesperson, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement provided to journalists in Ilorin.

“Swift responses by police operatives and vigilantes resulted in a coordinated search operation in the surrounding bush.

“As a result, one Babangida Soliu ‘M’ narrowly escaped from the kidnappers, while two victims, Halimat Umaru ‘F’ and Husseinat Isiaka ‘F’, both aged 20 years, were successfully rescued unharmed. They have since been reunited with their families.

“In further pursuit of the kidnappers and the ensuing gun duel, one of the perpetrators, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was neutralised.

“In addition, two suspects, Saidu Soliu and Soliu Abass, sustained serious injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.”

Adetoun also mentioned in the statement that the case is presently under investigation, emphasizing that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
