Police rescue Zamfara kidnap victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command rescued five kidnap victims who were kidnapped by suspected terrorists in a Zamfara highway raid on March 9.

In a statement on Tuesday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer, identified the victims as Bashir Malqm Sani (25), Kamaladdeen Sani (23), Musa Muhammad (22), Sagir Umar (20), and Muntari Sama’ila (20) from Magamin Mai Tarko, Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

According to the statement, “on March 25, 2024, at approximately 0735 hours, operatives of the Katsina State Police Command while on normal patrols near Masiga village, Kankara Local Government Area, successfully rescued the kidnapped victims.

“On 9/3/2024, the victims were en route to Zamfara State from FCT Abuja when they were ambushed and kidnapped by their kidnappers at Kushere village in Zamfara State. They were brought to the Katsina jungle, put in chains, and subsequently freed by our agents.

“Currently, the rescued victims are responding to medical treatment as efforts are being made to reunite them with their families as the investigation proceeds with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
