[GRAPHIC VIDEO] Police stray bullet hits, kills WAEC candidate going for exams in Oyo

A tragic incident occurred when a stray bullet fired by a policeman claimed the life of a young student on his way to sit for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams.

Eyewitnesses reported that the officer, while pursuing a fleeing vehicle along the busy Gbagi Market Road, discharged his firearm in an attempt to stop the suspect. One of the bullets reportedly missed its target and struck a schoolboy riding on his father’s motorcycle with his twin brother.

According to reports, the boy was rushed to Welfare Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The deceased and his twin were en route to their examination center when the incident happened.

Outraged by the incident, market traders and sympathizers carried the boy’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat, demanding justice and calling for an audience with Governor Seyi Makinde.

In a video circulating online, security personnel were seen attempting to manage the growing crowd as protesters demanded transparency, accountability, and reforms in police operations in public areas.

As of the time of this report, the Oyo State Police Command and state government had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
