The Katsina State Police Command says it has thwarted multiple banditry attempts, seized a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), fabricated weapons, and apprehended 168 individuals involved in various criminal activities within the state.

This was revealed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, during a press briefing in Katsina, where he presented the Command’s September security report on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

He stated that the Command deployed a combination of security tactics and worked relentlessly to protect lives and property across the region.

Aliyu outlined the arrests made, which include 12 suspected armed robbers, five individuals linked to murder and culpable homicide, and 14 suspects involved in illicit drug activities, among others.

“The Command foiled several bandit attacks, neutralising five suspected armed bandits and rescuing over 80 kidnapped victims within the period under review,” he said.

Items recovered during the operations include 1,298 live rounds of ammunition, four cartridges, one GPMG, two AK-47 rifles, and a substantial amount of suspected vandalised electric cables, among other exhibits.

He appreciated the Katsina State Government and residents for their ongoing support and cooperation in promoting peace and security.

Aliyu further urged citizens to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines to maintain momentum in the fight against crime and insecurity.
