The Katsina State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to separate car thefts and armed robberies following a tip-off in Katsina.

In a statement, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command’s public relations officer, confirmed the arrests.

The statement reads: “On May 1st, 2024, at about 06:30 hours, the command arrested 45-year-old Sabi’u Musa in connection with a suspected case of armed robbery and car theft.

“Acting swiftly, detectives received a report on the theft of a Lexus saloon car (ash color, registration number LND 215 GD) at gunpoint in neighboring Kano State. They located the vehicle on the Katsina-Jiba road and, in collaboration with Nigeria Customs Service personnel on duty, arrested Musa in possession of the stolen car.

“During questioning, Musa confessed that he planned to sell the car in Maradi, Niger Republic.

“Similarly, on April 27, 2024, at about 08:30 hours, the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) received information about a stolen Vibe saloon car (white, registration number DKA 71 PX) from Kano State. Detectives quickly traced the vehicle to Liyafa roundabout in Katsina and arrested the two occupants, 29-year-old Abdulaziz Ibrahim and 47-year-old Haruna Sani, both from Kano.

“During interrogation, Sani admitted to deceiving the owner into giving him the car and planning to sell it in Katsina before his arrest. The investigation is currently ongoing.”
