Ogun State Police Command, on Tuesday, said it will charge a 33-year-old woman, Ifeoma Ossai, to court for allegedly killing her landlord, Monday Oladele.
The woman allegedly grabbed his 50-year-old landlord’s manhood and dragged him during the fight.
The Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the development to newsmen, said the woman will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
According to him, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, had ordered an investigation into the case of homicide.
He said the CP ordered a diligent prosecution of the suspect for killing Oladele over a minor disagreement.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday, March 11, 2023, when the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Sango Ota divisional headquarters by one Olaleye Taiwo.
Oyeyemi said: “The complainant reported that his brother had a disagreement with his tenant over payment of an electricity bill, and in the process, Ossai grabbed the manhood of the deceased and dragged him with it.
“Consequently, the landlord fell unconsciously on the ground and was rushed to General Hospital, Ota, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
“Upon the report, the DPO Sango Ota division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Saleh Dahiru, quickly led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and taken to custody for investigation.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased asked her to pay for electricity bill, but she insisted that until water is directly connected to her apartment as promised by the landlord before she packed in, she will not pay the electricity or any other utility bill.
“This led to a scuffle between them, consequent upon which the suspect grabbed the manhood of the deceased and dragged him with it. The deceased subsequently slumped, and he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
“The corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and the woman will be charged in due time.”
