Police to probe abduction of Akwanga LG chairman

The Nasarawa State Police Command has stated that it is currently probing the abduction of Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA) by unknown gunmen

On Tuesday in Lafia, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, conveyed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Commissioner of Police Umar Nadada had deployed personnel to pursue the criminals and safely rescue the abducted chairman, Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, along with another individual.

Nansel indicated that they received information about the kidnapping incident around 8:30 p.m. in Ningo village of Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA).

“The police in collaboration with other security agencies are currently on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the release of the council chairman and the other victim.”

Nansel appealed to the public, particularly individuals from the villages in the vicinity, to furnish the police with valuable information that could facilitate the rescue of the abducted individuals and the apprehension of the culprits.

Additionally, Mr. Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser (SA) to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and a close associate of the Local Government chairman, confirmed the incident.

The SA verified that the chairman, Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, and one Adamu Custom were abducted in Ningo village of Akwanga around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
