Security operatives have stepped up their fight against banditry in Kaduna State, destroying two suspected camps believed to have been used by criminal elements in Makarfi Local Government Area.
The operation was conducted over the weekend by personnel of the Kaduna State Police Command and the Kaduna State Vigilance Service.
The security agencies reportedly acted on information from residents about suspected bandit activities around Durum and Danguzuri, including areas close to the border with Kano State.
During the clearance exercise, the operatives confronted the suspected bandits and subsequently pulled down two structures identified as their hideouts.
The structures, located at Rugar Mijin Goggo and Unguwar Maryamu in Danguzuri, were suspected to have been used to shelter abducted victims.
The police said the latest operation was part of its continuing campaign to restrict the activities of bandits and other criminals and prevent them from operating freely within the state.
According to the command, security personnel have maintained patrols in the area following the operation, with the situation currently described as calm.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, expressed appreciation to residents whose information helped security agencies locate the suspected hideouts.
He also praised the operatives involved in the exercise and assured residents that the command would maintain its offensive against banditry and other criminal activities.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with useful information that could assist in preventing criminal activities and protecting communities across the state.
