Police vow to arrest perpetrators of cult-related killings in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to investigating and apprehending those responsible for the cult-related killings in Nibo, Anambra State, which occurred on Sunday.

In a statement on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga condemned the actions of some relatives of the deceased who are allegedly attempting to bury evidence, withhold information, and disrupt the ongoing investigation.

On the same day, Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam led a team of officers to the scene for a spot assessment, reaffirming the command’s determination to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.

The incident took place in the Nibo community, Awka South Local Government Area, where gunmen attacked Oye Nwochichi market near the Community Old Maternity.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants arrived in a brown Lexus 300 Jeep and opened fire on the crowd.

Although the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, community members claim that at least 10 bodies have been recovered so far.
