Princess Anne rushed to hospital with head injuries

Princess Anne, the late Queen Elizabeth’s daughter and King Charles’ sister, was sent to hospital after a “incident” at her house on Sunday evening (23 June), according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Princess Anne, commonly known as Princess Royal, was hospitalised as a precaution following a “incident” at her house on Sunday evening (23 June). According to a statement made on Monday, June 24, Princess Anne suffers minor injuries and a concussion and has been admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, UK.

“The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” read the statement.

According to the statement, King Charles has been kept closely informed on Princess Anne’s health.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,” the statement continued.

A source told CNN that Princess Anne was walking near horses in her Gatcombe Park estate when she suffered the minor injuries to her head. The Princess Royal is a keen horse rider, who previously competed in Equestrian events at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

The source went on to say that Princess Anne is recovering well in hospital and her upcoming royal engagements have been postponed. The Princess is the second child of the late Queen Elizabeth, followed by Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. She was first married to Captain Mark Phillips from 1973 to 1992. Months after she divorced Phillips, she married Sir Timothy Laurence in 1992.

Princess Anne is a mother of two – Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.
