The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says he has yet to receive a letter seeking the use of Eagle Square for a scheduled protest beginning August 1.

Wike addressed on Saturday at a town hall meeting with key stakeholders in the FCT ahead of the #EndBadGovernance protests.

He stated that no letter was issued to his office requesting to use Eagle Square for the planned protest.

The FCT minister stated that demonstrators should not rely solely on social media to communicate with his office. He advised them to proceed through the proper processes.

Wike had already warned about the protests.

“For those who want to protest on the 1st, the FCT is not available for such protests,” he stated, asking locals to avoid such actions.

Stakeholders in the Saturday meeting included FCT Minister (State) Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious bodies, political party leaders, and representatives of women and youth groups, among others.

Saturday’s gathering was intended to establish a communication channel between the FCT administration and capital city inhabitants to discuss their issues with the current leadership and potential remedies.
