The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of 25 suspects involved in violent attacks on government agencies.
On Monday, Police Spokesman ASP Mansir Hassan revealed that some of those arrested are members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).
Among the items recovered from the suspects were an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, a jackknife, and a police camouflage uniform. The presence of these items with some of the arrested individuals raises concerns about the potential scale of the planned violence.
These arrests come amidst escalating tensions and protests in Kaduna, which have resulted in a series of violent incidents targeting government buildings and officials. The police have intensified their efforts to restore order and prevent further damage to public property.
ASP Hassan stressed the need for peace and warned against actions that could worsen the situation. He urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement, assuring them that the police are dedicated to protecting lives and property.
The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to assess their full involvement in the attacks. The Kaduna State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to prosecuting all those responsible and ensuring the safety of residents.
