Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is preparing to make a second bid of €120 million for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.

The French champions had their initial offer of €100 million rejected in June.

While the new bid still falls short of Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis’ valuation of €150 million, it surpasses the offers made by other interested clubs.

De Laurentiis considers PSG to be the only team capable of meeting the asking price and has disregarded other suitors such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, despite their interest in signing Osimhen.

“The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis revealed to Mediaset.

“If (PSG president) Nasser Al Khelaifi wants to send in a bid around €200 million, we wait and see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here.”

According to Calciomercato, negotiations between Victor Osimhen and Napoli regarding a contract extension are currently in progress.

The club is reportedly looking to include a release clause in the new contract, which would only become active in the summer of 2024. This release clause would set a fee higher than €100 million for any potential transfer of Osimhen.

De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, has informed Osimhen’s agent that he will only consider offers near the €200 million mark during this summer’s transfer window.

Although there seems to be a significant gap in negotiations, Napoli is still committed to reaching an agreement with their star player by offering him a contract that meets his expectations.

Bayern Munich has shown significant interest in Victor Osimhen, but they believe Napoli’s financial demands are excessive, leading them to pause negotiations.

Currently, PSG presents the biggest challenge for Napoli as they view Osimhen as an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé, the World Cup winner.

According to French sources, PSG is on the verge of submitting an offer of approximately €120 million for Osimhen’s services.

Osimhen’s impressive performance last season, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 32 league appearances, played a crucial role in Napoli winning the Serie A title after more than three decades.

He also became the first African player to secure the prestigious Capocannoniere award, given to the top scorer in Serie A.

The Nigerian forward is set to resume pre-season training on July 19 while eagerly anticipating developments regarding his future.
