A constitutional lawyer and former Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, has died. He was 94.
Nwabueze, a resident of Atani in Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was born in 1931.
A family member verified that he died in his home on Sunday evening.
Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, Vice-President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, who also confirmed his death, said the dead would be remembered for his “selfless service and dedication” to Nigeria’s advancement.
Okeke-Ogene said, “It is a great loss both to Nigeria and the Igbo nation. He was a very decent constitutional lawyer and minister par excellence. He was known for being vocal and ensuring an anti-corrupt system.
“Indeed, the evolution of the entire legal system in Nigeria would not be complete without mentioning his invaluable contributions.”
