A two-storey building located at 15, Iga Idungaran, close to Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu’s palace, Lagos Island collapsed on Thursday, trapping many people, according to reports.
The collapsed building was reported to be defective after a part of it caved in following the Dosunmu Market fire on Lagos Island.
According to the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, 14 other buildings were seriously affected by the fire.
The incident which happened around 11 am on Thursday follows the April incident wherein four buildings collapsed due to the force of the fire that engulfed part of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island.
Emergency responders including the fire service, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the Nigeria Ports Authority arrived at the location.
