Residents of Achida community in Wurno LGA of Sokoto state have successfully resisted a bandit invasion, killing one of the attackers during the clash.

According to a counter-insurgency report, the incident occurred when armed bandits invaded the community but were confronted by locals and members of a vigilante group.

The residents were said to have quickly organised themselves and engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw after a brief exchange.

One of the suspected bandits was killed in the process, while others escaped, with some believed to have sustained injuries.

Sources praised the community members and vigilante group for their “swift and coordinated response” in defending the area.

Security agencies are expected to increase patrols and launch follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.
