Residents scoop fuel as tanker falls in Cross River

A fuel tanker has overturned in Akamkpa, Cross River State, prompting residents to rush out and scoop the spilled fuel that was flowing uncontrollably onto the ground.

A viral video of the incident, shared on social media Thursday morning, shows community members gathering along the roadside with buckets and kegs to collect the fuel from the fallen tanker.

There has been no official report from the driver or local residents regarding the cause of the accident, and fortunately, no lives were lost.

As of now, authorities in the state have not issued any statements on the situation.

The incident has raised concerns, particularly following a tragic event on October 15, when approximately 180 people died while trying to scoop fuel from a fallen petrol tanker in Jigawa State.

That incident occurred in Majia, Taura Local Government Area, involving a petrol-laden truck traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State.
