Result fraud: Former Minister of Education demands independent investigation of Mmesoma

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has called for an impartial investigation into the allegations leveled against Ejikeme Mmesoma, an Anambra candidate accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

In a tweet from her official Twitter handle @obyezeks, the former minister expressed the need for an independent technological investigation to uncover the truth behind the matter.

Ezekwesili emphasized the importance of a forensic investigation to shed light on the actual events. Additionally, she stated that she has reached out to the Registrar of JAMB regarding the issue.

“An Independent investigation would turn this curious episode into a Learning Opportunity for @JAMBHQ and everyone, especially students. I frankly see no downsides in asking a team of Independent Technology folks to investigate and publicly share their findings. Let’s do it.”

JAMB released a statement on Sunday evening stating that Ejikeme Mmesoma manually increased her UTME result from 249 to 362.

They alleged that she used this inflated score to secure a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors, which was scheduled to be awarded by the Anambra state government before her deception was revealed.

However, in a video released on Monday evening, Ejikeme claimed that she printed the “fake” result from the JAMB portal, contradicting JAMB’s accusations.
