Suspected bandits have taken the life of a retired secondary school teacher and kidnapped three women in a late-night raid on the staff quarters of Government Secondary School, Tsafe, in Zamfara State.

The deceased, identified as Mallam Kabiru, was reportedly shot after he resisted an abduction attempt. Following the incident, his wife and two other female residents of the quarters were abducted.

The Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the details to Channels Television during a phone interview on Sunday.

According to DSP Yazid, the assailants invaded the premises on Saturday night, stating, “They wanted to abduct him, but he resisted. That was when he was shot. His wife and two others were later taken away.”

He also indicated that police tactical squads and additional security forces have been deployed to the area and are actively pursuing the perpetrators. “Troops have been mobilised and are on the trail of the kidnappers. I assure you that the victims will be rescued unharmed,” he remarked.
