British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has arrived in Israel where he is scheduled to hold discussions with the Israeli leader, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sunak to Advocate Swift Humanitarian Aid for Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict

The UK leader arrived in Israel within just 24 hours of US President Joe Biden’s visit, during which he pledged $100 billion in support.

Sunak’s visit aligns with global leaders’ joint efforts to prevent the conflict with Hamas from spilling over into the broader region.

“I am in Israel, a nation in grief. I grieve with you and stand with you against the evil that is terrorism. Today, and always,” Sunak posted on X this morning.

He will meet Netanyahu on Thursday before visiting other regional capitals and extend his sympathies for the civilians who have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.

”Every civilian death is a tragedy,” the prime minister stated in advance of the journey. “And too many lives have been lost following Hamas’s horrific act of terror.”

Earlier this week, reports suggested that Sunak was planning his inaugural trip to Israel, but he did not confirm his travel plans until Wednesday evening.

At the same time, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is set to engage with leaders in Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar in the upcoming days to seek their support for a peaceful resolution in Israel and Gaza. He will advocate for an agreement regarding humanitarian access to Gaza and the release of British hostages being held by Hamas.
