The Rivers State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants.
George Nwaeke, the state’s Head of Service, announced that Governor Siminalayi Fubara gave the approval during a closed-door meeting with labor leaders and senior government officials.
Following the meeting, Nwaeke confirmed that the implementation of the new minimum wage would begin immediately.
The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, commended Governor Fubara for fulfilling the expectations of Rivers State workers, expressing gratitude for the Governor’s dedication to the workforce.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, emphasized that the new minimum wage would significantly ease the economic challenges faced by workers in the state.
