The government of Rivers State has entered into a formal agreement with two private firms to construct 20,000 residential units catering to individuals with low and middle-class incomes. Additionally, the partnership aims to establish a central spare part market within the state.
Pricewise Home Nigeria Limited, an affiliated company to TAF Africa Global—the developer of Riv/TAF Estate, also known as Golf Estate in Port Harcourt—will oversee the execution of the housing projects. Simultaneously, Gosh Project Limited will be responsible for the development of the automobile spare part market.
Governor Fubara, speaking after the signing ceremony held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Saturday, expressed that this initiative aligns with his commitment to providing affordable housing for individuals with low incomes.
Regarding the proposed spare part market, Governor Fubara highlighted that it fulfills a campaign promise made to the Igbo-dominated spare part dealers who supported him during the election. He emphasized that the market would serve as a centralized hub for automobile dealerships and repairs.
Governor Fubara further explained that the location of the spare part market on the outskirts of Port Harcourt is strategic, contributing to the expansion of the state’s development. This move is in harmony with his administration’s vision to establish new vibrant cities.
He said, “Our mission is not limited to what we inherited, but to expand it”.
He conveyed his joy that the eagerly anticipated investments are materializing, poised to enhance the state’s economic expansion.
The Governor affirmed the unwavering dedication of his administration to addressing the requirements of the state’s residents.
He emphasized that Rivers State offers a tranquil environment, conducive for investors to leverage its plentiful human and natural resources.
Governor Fubara issued a challenge to both companies, urging them to commence construction on the two projects within a week.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was endorsed on behalf of the Rivers State Government by Professor Zacchaus Adangor (SAN), who serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. Representing the Management of New City Development Agency, formerly recognized as Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, Professor Adangor played a key role in the agreement.
On behalf of the involved companies, Mr. Mustapha Njie, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa Global, hailing from Gambia, participated in the signing. Additionally, Mr. Okoh Jeff, the Chief Executive Officer of Gosh Project Limited, represented the company’s interests in the agreement.
