Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has emphasized the transient nature of power amid escalating political tensions in the state.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Bori Zonal Hospital in Khana Local Government Area, Fubara reiterated his dedication to serving the people, despite the ongoing standoff with the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The governor highlighted his efforts to comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling by attempting to engage with the Speaker and other Assembly members regarding the budget presentation. He noted that despite sending messages and making direct attempts to communicate, he was denied entry to the Assembly complex.

Describing the situation as unfortunate, Fubara expressed readiness to return to the Assembly when circumstances permit.

He reminded political stakeholders that power is not eternal and emphasized the importance of using authority responsibly, warning that abuse of power leads to eventual downfall.

Fubara called on his supporters, especially the youth, to remain resolute, assuring them that the battle is not lost and expressing faith in divine intervention for eventual victory.

On the newly commissioned hospital, the governor hailed the project as a testament to effective governance. He announced plans to remodel zonal hospitals statewide to reduce congestion in teaching hospitals.

The Bori Zonal Hospital, abandoned for over eight years, was completed in just nine months by local contractors, representing a major step forward in the state’s healthcare sector.
