Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a Christmas bonus of ₦100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state.

The approval was conveyed in a statement signed and released on Tuesday by the State’s Head of Service, Dr George Nwaeke. According to Dr Nwaeke, the bonus, approved on Monday, is intended to ensure workers and pensioners enjoy a meaningful Christmas celebration.

This marks the second time during Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants in the state have received a Christmas bonus of ₦100,000—an amount exceeding the national minimum wage. However, it is the first time pensioners are included in the gesture.

In his Christmas message, Governor Fubara called on the people of Rivers State to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence, especially in tackling the nation’s economic and security challenges.

He also reassured the people of Rivers State that the coming year would usher in new opportunities and enduring fulfilment.
